Bebop legend Dizzy Gillespie performs his 1947 classic "Oo-Pop-A-Da" at a small basement jazz club in Cambridge, Massachusetts on March 28, 1984. This is raw, single camera uncut footage. The drummer is 19 year-old jazz prodigy Terri Lyne Carrington from Medford, Massachusetts, who played with Clark Terry when she was only 11 years old, as well as a host of jazz royalty like Stan Getz and Herbie Hancock throughout her teen years. She was the house drummer on the Arsenio Hall Show, and later went on to win 3 Grammy Awards. This footage was originally shot for a 90-second TV entertainment news story, which is why the camera is sometimes wandering. Eddie Hettstrom, the cameraman, is trying to capture short clips and cutaways that he knows will be useful for the editor.
