In today's video, we continue our walking tour of the Christmas Market in Wiesbaden.
The Christmas market in Wiesbaden is known as the Sternschnuppen Markt. It takes place on Schlossplatz and around the Market Church.

The history of Christmas Markets dates back to ancient times.
The first Christmas Fairs appeared in the Middle Ages (13th-14th centuries), which were held to stock up on food for the winter.
The fairs then expanded their range, adding toys, decorations, sweets and entertainment, becoming part of the Christmas season.

The oldest surviving and famous fair is considered to be the Dresdner Striezelmarkt, mentioned in 1434.

At the Fair in Wiesbaden features Christmas stalls selling
a variety of treats and goods, including
traditional baked goods, sweets and hot
drinks.
Traditionally, Christmas treats have included
stollen, gingerbread, roasted almond
chestnuts, as well as glühwein and hot
appetizers.
