Here it is, the oldest thing I've ever archived. These tapes belong in a museum. It's two episodes of Championship Wrestling, which was owned by the WWWF (later WWF/E). The recordings spanned two cassettes, but I stitched them all together into one video. I'm not sure why someone would want to listen to audio recordings of wrestling. Just close your eyes and try to imagine the match as its described to you, I guess. I'm also not sure if this was a recorded radio broadcast or if they put a cassette recorder next to their TV. I picked these up at a thrift store and completely do not know the backstory to these tapes. I recognized a few of the names mentioned on this tape like Black Jack Mulligan, Captain Lou Albano and Bruno Sammartino, but I'm not real big on 1970s wrestling, a bit before my time. Also on these tapes were reports about the death of Elvis Presley (again, why would you record that on an audio cassette?). I will upload those separately later. Despite the strangeness of listening to wrestling instead of watching it, I feel like these recordings have a lot of historical value.
I'm starting to think that you can find just as many recorded oddities on audio cassettes as you can on VHS tapes, and far fewer people are archiving them.
