I would have never been able to imagine that the clothes I'm wearing clothes could be making me sick... Until I discovered all the toxic chemicals hiding in even 'eco-friendly' brands.

In this video, I reveal how fabrics like polyester and nylon can disrupt your hormones, irritate your skin, and worse. And I'll show you how to spot misleading labels and choose safer options. Your clothes are a clear connection between environmental toxins and your health.

Here's some of the other 'concious' fabrics you need to watch out for...

⚠️ Anything else by Fulgar - it's the same manufacturer that produced Q-NOVA. While marketed as sustainable, they're based on synthetic polyamide or elastomers and most likely contain harmful chemicals that irritate the skin, disrupt hormones, or pose other health risks.

⚠️ Econyl – Marketed as a sustainable alternative, Econyl is also regenerated nylon made from recycled ocean plastics. While it does reduce waste, it's still nylon, with all the associated chemical and environmental concerns.

⚠️ Piñatex – A leather alternative made from pineapple leaf fibers. While the base material is natural, the fibers are often coated with polyurethane to create a leather-like texture, introducing synthetic components.

⚠️ Cupro – Made from recycled cotton linter, cupro is often marketed as a sustainable option. However, its processing involves heavy use of toxic chemicals, similar to viscose production.

⚠️ Repreve – A recycled polyester often used in activewear. While it repurposes plastic waste, it still retains the downsides of traditional polyester, including low breathability and potential chemical leaching.

⚠️ Modal – Derived from beechwood pulp, modal is often labeled as natural and eco-friendly. However, residual chemicals, including potentially harmful substances like benzothiazole, can remain in the fabric and be absorbed by the skin.

⚠️ Cork Leather – Often marketed as a sustainable vegan leather, cork leather has its merits but also significant drawbacks. While it is made from renewable cork oak bark, many products are bonded with synthetic adhesives or coated with polyurethane. These added materials can introduce harmful chemicals, raising concerns about both environmental impact and potential skin exposure.

⚠️ S.Cafe – Made from recycled coffee grounds, S.Cafe fabrics are marketed as odor-resistant and eco-friendly. While innovative, the fibers are often blended with synthetics like polyester.

⚠️ Soy Fabric – Known as "vegetable cashmere," soy fabric is derived from soybean hulls. However, scrutiny reveals significant concerns. Its production often involves extensive chemical processing, including formaldehyde, which can irritate the skin and cause allergic reactions. Additionally, residual chemicals can leach from the fabric, posing risks through prolonged skin contact.

Here are some practical tips and key areas to focus on to ensure you're making healthier and safer clothing choices.

✅ Stay Away from Recycled Products
Avoid recycled fabrics. These often shed microfibers and plastics due to instability from recycling processes, introducing new health risks and environmental harm. It's mostly all greenwashing anyway, and such offerings typically do not reduce the chemical load.

✅ Underwear and Activewear
You want to pay special attention to these categories. Underwear is close to sensitive areas, so choose 100% organic cotton or natural fibers. For activewear, synthetic fabrics trap sweat and may leach chemicals-some pieces like rashguards for example don't have any alternatives, so change immediately after use and wash frequently.

✅ Wash New Clothes Before Wearing
New garments often come coated with chemical finishes which you're by now at this point familar with. Washing them before first use significantly reduces these residues, lowering the risk of exposure and ensuring a safer wearing experience.

✅ Invest in Quality Over Quantity
High-quality clothing lasts longer and is healthier. Fabrics like hemp, linen, and wool are more durable and require less frequent replacement.
