Saturday 5th February 2000 - Class 47 locomotive 47840 North Star working the 1M32 1440 Portsmouth & Southsea - Blackpool North virgin train service dragging 47817 The Institute of Mechanical Engineers on the end which I filmed as far as Fareham. This service had been diverted from its usual route from Portcreek Junction to Reading via Havant, Haslemere and Guildford. It ran this way stopping at Fareham only, then onwards via Eastleigh and Basingstoke to Reading where the train reversed and I presume 47817 The Institute of Mechanical Engineers would start up and take the service onwards dragging 47840 North Star.
