I traveled to Burundi, one of the world’s poorest and least developed countries, to understand life beyond the headlines.
From visiting Twa villages to hearing stories of survival, I witnessed the harsh realities of poverty, political unrest, and the lasting impact of genocide.

Despite it all, I found people who welcomed me with warmth, smiles, and incredible strength.
