Ah, here we have one of many Nagra III's I repaired and sold over ebay back in the day. Once I found a stack of two for $80 at a swap meet. Kudelski always considered the III his finest design. They could not make these things fast enough in the late 60's, They were groundbreaking and the demand was staggering. One track, one microphone input. OC44 transistors throughout. Its tough to find two alike, either due to owner modifications or Kudelski's various build-to-order options. The III had the lowest signal to noise ratio of any of the later Nagras. When demonstrating the machine, Kudelski used to put it in record and drop it upside down on a table. Playback would prove that the machine maintaind perfect speed and crystal sync despite the drop.
