Bigger pinion doesn’t always mean bigger speed — and this run proved it.
After watching some recent X12S speed testing from @10thScalePerformance, I decided to push my own setup while keeping the rules simple: stock electronics, no body mods. I dropped in a 30T pinion, buttoned everything up under the stock shroud, and quickly found the limit.
Once everything was enclosed, the gear mesh ended up too tight and the pinion didn’t survive. No excuses, no cover-ups — this is part of learning the speed game the right way.
