The vacuum bases on my Volkl / Kohla skins were not staying stuck to my skis and I often had snow packed under them by the end of the tour. I always make sure the base is completely dry and I usually apply warm skins to warm skis before I leave the house.
I decided to remove the vacuum base and replace with Black Diamond Gold Label adhesive. I wasn't sure how it would work so I wanted to share my experience.
I only have used the skins once since applying the new adhesive but they performed quite well and based on other reviews of this adhesive, I expect it to continue to work well.
