I tried to recreate Molecule 01, Molecule 02, Molecule 04 and Molecule 05 from escentric molecules, which, as their name suggests, are perfumes whose scent comes from a single molecule. 01 contains Iso E super, specifically the gamma isomer, which is proprietary to IFF, meaning that not just anyone can buy it. In my case, I used Timbersilk, which has a proportion of it, in addition to other isomers and traces of Amber Xtreme, to enhance it. The result is a soft, cedar-like woody perfume that is very, very velvety. Of all of them, it is the only one I would use as a perfume. Although subtle, it lasts a long time and is very versatile.
02 contains Ambroxan. Again, there are many isomers, and I used Ambrofix, which is one of the most highly regarded. The result is a clean perfume with very subtle sweet notes. Unfortunately, it causes anosmia in me and I quickly find it difficult to appreciate. 04 contains javanol. It is a soft, sandalwood-like woody perfume and as it dries, I suppose as it oxidises, I detect hints of rose. It could also be used as a perfume, although there are many better options.
05 contains cashmeran, which is more difficult to describe. I perceive it as a wood with spicy, metallic and earthy notes. I am missing 03, which contains vetiveryl acetate.
For all of them, the manufacturing cost, including the bottle, is less than £3.
