Skiing Coors Face and Snake Couloir // A Weekend in the San Juans 2024

Leaving Golden after work on friday Logan and I made the long trek down to Ridgeway where we slept in the back of Logans truck (aka Keith). Starting at 4:50am was tough after getting little sleep but we slogged out the long approach and skied the Snake Couloir off Mount Sneffels with better weather than expected.
Afterwards we drove to Telluride in search of binoculars or beta on Wilson Peaks North East Face, aka Coors Face. The local gear shop told us to call Mountain Guides, who were closed. However we happened upon one of their guides in a burger place who gave us good advice on the approach. We ran into him again on the summit the next day! After talking with another interested party and expecting a crowd, we went to bed early and got a 4:00am start. The approach was easy with some slightly tedious sidehilling. A nice slot couloir invisible from below dropped off nearly on the summit. Descending from the peak proved hazardous. Although I remained clipped in for the entire descent, I would not consider the skiing continous. There were some patches of good turns, and decent corn in the aprons. A very fun trip to the San Juans!
