Rithwik Foundation for Performing Arts, in collaboration with the Department of Performing Arts, Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), Pune, presents a heartfelt broadcast of Echoes of a Swan Song—Remembering Sarod Maestro Ken Zuckerman. This program, one of his final performances, is a poignant reminder of his immense contribution to Indian classical music. The evening features an insightful interview with his disciple Anupam Joshi(Young Sarod Maestro) offering a glimpse into his journey, philosophy, and lifelong dedication to the Sarod. This is followed by a mesmerizing performance where Ken Zuckerman was accompanied by Maheshraj Salunke on Tabla, weaving magic one last time. Through this broadcast, we honour his legacy, remembering not just the music he played but the passion and devotion with which he lived. With profound respect and heartfelt condolences, we bid farewell to a true maestro, whose music will continue to resonate for generations to come.

About the Artist: Ken Zuckerman’s name will forever resonate in the world of Indian classical music. A devoted disciple of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan for 37 years, he was celebrated as one of the finest Sarod players of his time. Renowned for his improvisational mastery, he brought unparalleled depth to his music, seamlessly blending Indian ragas with global traditions through groundbreaking collaborations such as Diaspora Sefardi and Indian Ragas & Medieval Song, earning him worldwide acclaim. Beyond his performances, Kenji’s contributions to music were profound. His innovations, including precision tuners for the Sarod and Tanpura, as well as his invention Shanti, the world’s first acoustic tanpura device, showcased his dedication to both tradition and evolution in music. His passing leaves an irreplaceable void, but his music, innovations, and cross-cultural legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
