In 1931 Alfred Newman wrote his first complete film score for 'Street Scene'. The title theme, in the style of George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, is still frequently heard today. The studio producers and/or Newman evidently admired that music so much they used it in several other films. Here is a compilation using stills from those opening titles (and one closing title). The full version of Street Scene featured as a prelude for the screwball comedy 'How to marry a millionaire'.
