Took a lesson at PingPod in NYC with Yijun (Tom) Feng, who represented the USA in the 2016 and 2020 Olympics for table tennis. Tom is USATT rated ~2700 and plays a penhold style. Although we play different grips, Tom taught me a lot about how to build my consistency and improve the quality of my shots by focusing on shortening my strokes. Since the lesson, I've seen an improvement with my backhand topspin and felt it was easier to execute it. In addition to this, I also worked on footwork drills, backhand looping underspin and properly executing the hook serve.
