Malaysia is of the most popular countries on our channel, and for a good reason! It offers several residency options, beneficial tax regime for ex-pats, and great value for money.

Speaking of taxes, Malaysia has no capital gains tax, as well as no tax on foreign income. The latter part is especially important for ex-pats living in Malaysia.

We are presenting you with 5 best ways to obtain a residency in Malaysia, so if you are thinking about moving there this video is just for you!

Best residency options in Malaysia:

1. Digital Nomad Visa - this is probably the simplest way to get into the country, if you are considering it for a short-term.

2. Malaysia Tech Entrepreneur Program - in order to qualify for this visa you will either need to have a business in the right category or start a new business in the category. If you start a new business you will get a 1 year visa, while if you have an existing business or are investing into a business you will get a 5 year visa. If you are executive of a tech company, you will be able to qualify for a 5 year visa under this program as well.

3. Director's visa - this is the visa we do fairly often for our clients. This is a 2 year visa with amazing tax benefits.

4. MM2H (Malaysia My Second Home) is probably the most known visa in Malaysia! In order to qualify you need to be 25 years or older and you need to do a fixed deposit in a local bank (from $150k to $1 million USD). On top of this, you are expected to buy property in the first 12 months.
This visa can be valid for as long as 20 years in some cases, making it very appealing! In the shortest it will last 5 years. In order to maintain this visa you will need to spend at least 90 days per year in Malaysia.

5. PVIP program - is a 20 year visa! In order to qualify you need to place a deposit in a local bank, which is around $250k USD. This visa is interesting because it has no minimum stay requirement, no property purchase requirement and no age requirement. You will need to demonstrate at least $10k USD per month of foreign income.
