This is Ian and Jocelyn Minerve, an African American couple who made the bold decision to leave the United States and relocate their family to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

After years of working multiple jobs, struggling with rising costs, medical expenses, and burnout in America, Ian and Jocelyn chose a different path, one focused on peace, financial stability, community, and quality of life. In this video, they open their lives to show what living in Africa is really like for a Black American family.

Viewers are taken inside their modern apartment in Ethiopia, given an in-depth tour of an international school where they work, and shown how their family now lives comfortably while spending significantly less than they did in the U.S.

This video documents their transition from surviving in America to thriving on the African continent—while earning in U.S. dollars, saving money, and raising confident Black children in a majority-Black society.
