These days, German carmakers are in a constant race — on one hand, to build the most efficient and eco-friendly cars, and on the other, to see who can cram the biggest screen into the dashboard. The period from 2000-2010 was the golden age of German car makers, a time when they were building some cars which made little to no sense on paper.
They were constantly trying to one-up each other with faster, and more over-engineered cars. Each brand was determined to prove it could outdo the others — whether it was through new technology, wild performance figures, or simply the most absurdly complex engineering solution imaginable.
If you were to ask them why they built such cars the answer would be the same, “Why not?”.
This was a time when engineers were calling the shots, not accountants, — when creativity and innovation mattered more than emissions targets and profit margins. It was an era defined by character, and fearless experimentation.
