Jukou B-Fighter Stinger Blade 重甲ビーファイター スティンガーブレード

Welcome to my review of the DX Stinger Blade [スティンガーブレード] from Jukou B-Fighter [重甲ビーファイター]!

Metal Hero shows typically focused on having their weapons being massive and elaborate guns. While B-Fighter certainly had it's share of firepower, there is no denying that the Stinger Weapons were the coolest weapons at their disposal. On top of looking amazing, they just made sense as finisher weapons. So how does the toy stack up?

The DX Stinger Blade (as it is called on the box) comes with the Stinger Blade, Stinger Claw, and Stinger Plasmar. Perhaps it should have been called the Stinger Weapon Set instead? It runs on two C-Cell Batteries and has two different speeds controlled by the little red switch. The tinted screen is manually adjustable and revealed the spinning fan when the spinning feature is activated.

This toy does not disappoint. When you have this baby in high speed, it really spins. There is no way this toy would pass any kind of safety test in 2015 and it's even a wonder how it made it to market in both Japan AND America in the mid 90s. It's even sized pretty decently. Obviously it's going to be kinda small in adult hands...and the attachements could be a smidge bigger, but this toy is an acceptable size for what it is. Even if you can't get over that, there is still that awesome spin feature.

Downsides? It would have been cool if the claw was hinged so that it could be shut. That's it, really.

This toy is still pretty common and pretty much all of the ones I've seen for sale have been working, electrical gremlin-free toys. I highly recommend trying to add this to your collection if weapons are your thing. If you feel like keeping your search stateside, the Big Bad Beetleborgs version is verbatim to the Bandai Japan version. Highly recommended!
