I needed a small hand plane where I could see the blade and cut, for closeup detail work. I used an old Rosewood dining chair seat which yielded some beautiful pieces of wood.
It is modelled on a previous plane I made which has worked well for me, but I chose a broader blade and moved it to the side of the plane. The blade was an old chisel that had a makeover.
