Stockholm is the capital of Sweden, built on 14 islands connected by 57 bridges. Approximately 1 million people live in the municipality, with 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.5 million in the metropolitan area.
The main attractions are; Vasa Museum, Old Town, Skansen open-air museum and zoo,
ABBA The Museum, Kungliga Djurgården, Royal Palace, Royal Armory, Gröna Lund, Nobel Prize Museum, The Viking Museum, Stockholm City Hall, Östermalms Saluhall, Fotografiska Stockholm, National Museum, daily boat cruises and Finland ferries.
You can find many free things to do in Stockholm during the day, including exploring the historic Gamla Stan (Old Town) and the expansive Djurgården island, visiting parks like Kungsträdgården, and taking in the views from the Katarina Elevator. Some museums, like the Swedish History Museum and the outdoor sculpture garden at the Moderna Museet, also offer free admission or free outdoor access.
Tax-free shopping is available to non-EU residents, including tourists and visitors who are not residents of Sweden or the EU. EU residents who have lived outside the EU for at least 12 months are also eligible.
