“It’s a way to connect with the design community,” says Kasper Rønn. He and fellow Norm Architects co-founder Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen explain their ethos of “soft minimalism” – a counterpoint to the cold, stark aesthetic of the 1980s and ’90s – and how the warmth of natural materials sets the tone at Audo House, a former merchant’s building they were tapped to convert into a hospitality space showcasing modern Danish design.

BassamFellows asks festival-goers to imagine themselves inside Philip Johnson’s Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut, with a site-specific installation that pays homage to the late architect’s landmark residence. They chose 3days to unveil an archival lamp, one originally designed in 1953 by Johnson and Richard Kelly to address the challenges of illuminating a glass structure without unwanted reflections.

Former fashion designer and fine artist Helle Mardahl invites us into her candy-colored world of playful, decorative glass objects that nod to her childhood fantasy of a Willy Wonka-esque sweets shop. “My world is all about creativity,” says Mardahl, “I don’t know anything else.”

GUBI's Chief Brand Officer, Marie Schmidt, likens 3daysofdesign to a moment of truth – a chance to observe the community’s live, unfiltered responses to new pieces and archival reissues that embody the brand’s global outlook.

J.L. Møllers Møbelfabrik CEO Kirsten Møller muses on the fair’s theme – Keep it Real – and how the historic Danish brand epitomizes authenticity with in-house production techniques that have remained the same since the company’s founding.

Finally, Lise Vester, designer of the Dream View Bench from Muuto, offers a glimpse of her design process. Spoiler: she began by carving out a prototype in sand at the beach, exploring how design and nature work in tandem to improve our well-being.
