Part 3 of 5.
This is part 3 of the story of how myself, my grandson and others repaired his car -- a 2003 Mustang v6 Convertible with around 125k miles. It had been in a serious wreck just a couple of weeks before his 18th birthday, and as a gift we all worked to get it back together and straight.
This is the story. There are 5 parts. Parts 1 and 2 are more about the actual repair and show more detail. I encourage you to watch those episodes before watching part 3.
In this episode we run to Pennsylvania for parts -- 2 and a half hours one way. Scouring Facebook marketplace can be an exercise fraught with peril. In this case, I found a seller with a lot of the parts I wanted but didn't realize how far away they were due to the algorithm FB uses to show you potential items for sale.
I suddenly realized, after a bit of hopeful discussion with the seller, that they were really off in the distance as opposed to nearby. Almost didn't go for the parts -- but local sales were either too high, risky or nowhere near the needed parts. This guy (Scott) seemed to have everything and was willing to deal.
The PencilBanana Parts run shown here is more commemorative -- you don't learn much, but it does represent a crazy break from the action as we run for parts deep into PA, avoid a deer strike and eat rather late in the evening on the way home.
Stay tuned for part 4, which takes place over a couple of afternoon/evenings.
