GODZILLA vs. MOTHRA (ゴジラVSモスラ) - Official Japanese Trailer [HQ]

The fourth film in the Heisei series, "Godzilla vs. Mothra" was a financial success in Japan and continued the tradition of introducing a new monster into Toho's Godzilla universe. This time, it is the demonic-looking Battra in both a larval and flying form. The monster's design draws from a number of insects and matches up well against the updated design of Mothra.

When explorers travel to Infant Island, they discover a massive egg which had been revealed during a typhoon. They also encounter a pair of tiny twins (here called the Cosmos) who tell them the story of Mothra and Battra, two giant rivals that fought one another in Earth's ancient past. While Battra may have been defeated then, the Cosmos fear that Battra will return soon, due in part to a meteor which crashed into the ocean (and unknown to them all, woke a sleeping Godzilla). Thanks to an industrial company, the egg is transported off of the island on a giant floating platform and headed to safety... until Godzilla appears and attacks the egg! But the egg hatches and a larval Mothra appears and puts up an impressive counterattack. The two monsters are unaware of the larval Battra who joins the fight and sends Mothra in retreat. As Mothra flees, Battra and Godzilla engage one another on the ocean floor and create a massive chasm which consumes them both.

As the explorers and Cosmos reach the mainland, they learn that one of their own intends to use the Cosmos to promote his company. With the twins in danger, Mothra appears and attempts to come to their rescue. However, Mothra is met with fierce opposition from the Japan Self-Defense Forces and injured. The Cosmos are saved by the good explorers and call on Mothra to cease her attack. The larval Mothra crawls to the Diet Building (a government building in Tokyo) and begins to create a cocoon, soon to appear in her imago form. However, far out in the ocean, Battra emerges in imago form and in Japan, Godzilla has risen from beneath the ground!

Godzilla begins to smash its way through Tokyo as the beautiful imago form of Mothra emerges from the cocoon and takes flight. Soon both Mothra and Battra engage in battle above nearby Yokohama, only to have their fight interrupted by Godzilla. The two monsters must join forces and defeat Godzilla, or risk certain death in a solo battle. Through a fun and creative fight (which sees Mothra introduce some new abilities), the two carry Godzilla out above the ocean. But Godzilla gets one last fatal blow in and kills Battra. Unable to fly any further, Mothra releases her grip and Godzilla and the lifeless Battra plunge into the sea. Carrying out their end of an ancient agreement, Mothra and the Cosmos then fly off into space... just as Godzilla awakens once more in the ocean.
