GREAT HAYWOOD: Canals, Churches and CBD Coffee

The village of Great Haywood has a few claims to fame. Chief amongst them are the old stately home and grounds of Shugborough Hall, the meeting of canals at Haywood Junction and the fact that I went to school here. There is also a little known author named J.R.R. Tolkein who lived nearby and drew inspiration for some of his world from the village and area. While I'll leave his story for a later video, I did explore a bit around my old stomping grounds on a fine Saturday afternoon.
If you wish to follow todays walk it is largely accessable to all and generally free. There is a cafe, toilets and shop at the start / end. The towpath could be a bit bumpy for wheelchairs but generally not too bad. You could easily extend the walk into Shugborough or through the woodland bordering the canal / river.
