On-Paper Specification:-
Engine setup for the new 2017 Verna sedan includes a 1.6-litre Gamma Dual VTVT petrol and a 1.6-litre U2 CRDi diesel unit that have been borrowed from the previous model. The power and torque figures of both the motors remain unchanged. The gasoline mill continues to develop a top power of 121bhp at 6,400rpm and 155Nm of torque at 4,850rpm. On the other hand, the oil burner is capable of pushing out a maximum power of 126bhp at 4,000rpm and 260Nm of torque between 1,500rpm – 3,000rpm. One must note that these engines have been calibrated by Hyundai to deliver more fuel economy. Transmission duties on the sedan are continue to be taken care of by a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Despite being sharing its engines with the old model, the new Hyundai Verna 2017 is slightly more fuel economical than its predecessor. The petrol manual version of the sedan returns 17.70kmpl and the automatic variant delivers 15.92kmpl. The diesel counterpart is more frugal delivering an impressive mileage of 21.02kmpl with automatic gearbox and 24.75kmpl with manual unit.

Besides the prominent cosmetic and feature updates, the 2017 Hyundai Verna receives subtle dimensional changes. That said, the new Verna is 65mm longer, 29mm wider and has 30mm longer wheelbase. This translates into more cabin space for the occupants and more space for storing luggage. The wheelbase of the new-gen Verna measures 2,600mm, and the overall length, width and height stand at 4,440mm, 1,729mm and 1,475mm respectively. Change in proportions aide 16-litre more space inside the luggage compartment while the overall weight has been increased by 10kg. Ground Clearance of 170mm.
