A revolutionary music show that ran for 12 years in total, the first 3 of which were on Channel 4 before moving to ITV. It was a presenter-less tv show that showcased promotional videos from bands, using computer graphics to stitch everything together, including fast forwarding to prematurely end a video, and fun facts as a pop up information boxes. It showcased both the expensive videos and the low budget ones, and whilst it mainly focused on the Network chart (MRIB, the one used by independent radio, and included a proportion of airplay in addition to sales, instead of the chart used by the BBC for Top of The Pops, which was based on sales only),it also would dive into the top ten of other charts, such as Indie, Metal, etc. Also, for the early series, the MRIB chart would be announced Friday lunch time, and the show would be completed in time with for transmission Friday Evening. It achieved regular audiences of over 1 million.
It regularly secured exclusive first screening of new videos, and occasionally first looks with a short peek at a working edit of an upcoming new video.
If you like a pop trivia question, do you know which of the trialed artists in this clip is alleged to have played guitar on the original version of "Nutbush City Limits"
