Exploring Shetland & Repairing Our Mainsail

We use the harbor of Lerwick – Shetland’s capital city – as our base for additional exploration of Shetland. This group of islands is special for a number of reasons but what we hope to show their ruggedness and their simple beauty. We visit a world class archeological site and take in breathtaking coastal vistas.

There is one additional reason why a visit to Shetland is important to us. You see, for the last several weeks, we have been operating without our mainsail and it is in Shetland that we found a sailmaker who is ready and able to help us! Our problem was discovered 650 miles north – in Stø, Norway – but the most accessible sailmaker was in Shetland! We are excited to become a true sailboat once again.

Join us next time as we experience a rough sail to Fair Isle and then are mesmerized and captivated by the immense beauty and serenity that is boundless on Fair Isle. This is a special puffin nesting location so be sure to tune in!
