The first version I ever heard of this song was by James Taylor, who sang the first verse slightly differently than the song's author, Carole King. This is one of my all-time favorite songs.
One of my aims in life is to be a friend to others. It's not always easy. I tend to get wrapped up in my own problems and hangups sometimes, but this song challenges me to "come running" to those around me who are in need. While this is a secular song, it also reminds me of the greatest friend we can have in life. He will truly never leave you or forsake you. Proverbs 18:24
