Opened in 1965, the TCAT Crump site is one of several Tennessee College of Applied Technology locations across the state. The school network was founded in 1963 as the State Area Vo-Tech Schools to provide quality workforce development and skills training in a range of fields. The name was later changed in 1994 to the Tennessee Technology Centers and again in 2013 to its current name, Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology to better reflect the school network and its mission. Today, TCAT Crump is a modern training facility with a shop, technology building, advanced software, experienced instructors, co-op opportunities, and more that allow is to continue providing vital industry training to meet the needs of the local and national workforce.

Through lab instruction and real-world projects, students in the Computer Aided Design Technology program at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology become adept at preparing detailed working diagrams for a range of applications. Course curriculum includes instruction on technology foundations, drawing techniques, residential architecture, mechanical design, animation, rendering, and more depending on the student’s chosen path. With the addition of advanced technologies like 3D printing to the construction and engineering fields, it’s more vital than ever that students have the opportunity for hands-on experience. Students who complete the Computer Aided Design Technology program at the Crump Tennesssee technical college can earn several credentials including Certificates as an Assistant Drafter, Detail Drafter and Diplomas as a Drafting and CAD Technician, Residential Architecture Drafter, and Mechanical Drafter. Typical program completion takes approximately 16 months with options for full-time and part-time attendance as well as three diploma paths. The CAD technology program allows students to choose from a diverse range of fields that utilize the skills and experience acquired throughout the program.

Students who complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid may be eligible for financial assistance options like TN Reconnect or TN Promise.
