David "frozen" Čerňanský, star of MOUZ and new recruit of FaZe Clan, is the star of the 342nd Episode of 'Reflections'. This episode is part one of two about frozen's career.
frozen is one of Counter-Strike's best players and developed from a promising young would-be star into a player who can be the primary carry and take his team to trophies and major play-off runs.
frozen emerged as a teenage prodigy, tearing up Czech and Slovakian LANs at a young age. He was only 16 during his first year in MOUZ, where veteran leadership from karrigan and the emerging play of ropz and w0xic saw an otherwise humdrum year turn into something special late. MOUZ would escape defeat to win CAC 2019 and that started a run of five straight LANs, with more titles at cs_summit 5, ESL ProLeague S10 and ICE Challenge. MOUZ's only loss was to Vitality in the final of EPICENTER.
The online era saw MOUZ fall back down the rankings and karrigan and ropz left for FaZe, at different times respectively. This allowed frozen to establish himself as the star of the team and one of the game's best riflers. Through changing line-ups he was able to help them reach the play-offs of IEM Cologne in 2022, the semi-final of the IEM Rio major and most famously win ESL ProLeague S18, the last ever CS:GO LAN.
MOUZ was competitive in early CS2 but frozen has since moved on to join FaZe and at his first tournament with them, the BLAST World Final, they were runners-up to Team Vitality.
In part one, frozen discusses his entry into the pro scene, his talented team-mates in MOUZ, the pressure of playing on big stages and becoming the star, some notable wins, the troubles of the online era and finding LAN success with MOUZ again over the last years.
This interview was recorded on the 13th of January, 2024.
