The Ankobra river is primarily situated in Ghana. Rising northeast of Wiawso, it flows about 190 kilometers (120 mi) south of the Gulf of Guinea (northeasternmost part of the tropical Atlantic Ocean). A river that used to be beautiful and served as a source of drinking water and fishing is now destroyed by the activities of illegal mining known as Galamsey.
