Elizabeth Grosz: Ruyer and Embriyogenesis

"Gökcisimleri Üzerine" sergisi bağlamında gerçekleşen çevrimiçi konuşmada Elizabeth Grosz, Gilbert Simondon’un çağdaşı olan ve Gilles Deleuze’ün çalışmaları üzerinde büyük etkisi bulunan Raymond Ruyer’nin ürpertici derecede sıradışı yazınına odaklanıyor. Ruyer, atomaltı, atomik ve moleküler formların kendi kendilerini yaratma biçimlerini açıklarken “embriyogenesis” kavramını kullanıyor. Konuşma, virüslerden insanlara ve onların toplumsal, sanatsal üretimlerine, tüm yaşam formlarının kendilerini yaratma sürecinde faydalanmak zorunda olduğu bu kavrama kapsamlı bir giriş niteliği taşıyor.

Arter Koleksiyonu’ndan oluşturulan, Kevser Güler’in küratörlüğünü üstlendiği "Gökcisimleri Üzerine" sergisi, yaşamsal bir biraradalık düzleminin bugün yeniden düşünülebilir ve inşa edilebilir olmasına dair sorularla ilgileniyor. Yirmi sekiz sanatçının yapıtlarını kapsayan sergi, var olanların biraraya gelme ve dağılma biçimlerini, ilişki kurma tarzlarını, birbirlerine mesafe alma ve yakınlaşma yollarını birlikte düşünmeye davet ediyor.

Organised on the occasion of the exhibition "On Celestial Bodies", this online talk by Elizabeth Grosz addresses the hauntingly strange writings of Raymond Ruyer, a contemporary of Gilbert Simondon and a strong influence on the writings of Gilles Deleuze. The event provides a broad introduction to Ruyer’s writings on embryogenesis, a concept he uses to address how sub-atomic, atomic and molecular forms create themselves, and on which all forms of life – from viruses to humans and their social and artistic creations – must capitalise in order to create themselves.

Drawn from the Arter Collection, the group exhibition titled "On Celestial Bodies" curated by Kevser Güler deals with questions around the possibility of reconceiving and reconstructing a vital terrain for living together in our present day. Including works by twenty-eight artists, the exhibition invites visitors to contemplate together the ways that beings come together and disperse, the manners through which they build relations, and their ways of distancing and converging with each other.
