Hi everyone! It's been a pretty heavy orchestral year so far in terms of content so I thought I'd change it up a little! Bring back the classic smooth sounds of an EF arrangement. What better way to do this than to reintroduce the 'smooth' series. It started with 'A Smooth Investigation.' Now introducing a 'A Smooth Life,' a jazzy, somewhat soulful remix of the Danganronpa daily life themes.

The arrangement begins with a classic EF opening: the solo instrument playing the melody. I've done this in quite a lot of arrangements and absolutely love it. The structure of the arrangement then closely follows the original but with an additional solo-like section. I also thought it would be cool to add a guitar for the second half the melody; not a VST or anything, it's literally me playing guitar!

Another focus was on small and subtle changes in the rhythmic parts. Small adjustments to chord structures, bass rhythms and so much more. I always find it's a nice way to repeat a section of the piece without it sounding too repetitive. Oh and as always, there is a reference to another DR piece. Admittedly it's quite tiny!

There were quite a few different interesting techniques that went into creating this arrangement. FX automation, a lot of stereo imaging effects, adding warmth, creative uses of reverb and much more. It's one of those arrangements which has a lot going on underneath the surface. Another thing that really stands out to me is the sound of the drum machine in this (the electronic drums). It really does contribute to the overall feel of the piece. The piece almost sounds naked without it. Achieving this took a huuuge amount of tweaking and adjusting to get right as well as some surgical reverb adjustment. I actually had a small idea of dedicating a twitch stream a few days after each arrangement to quickly run through how it was made. Let me know if you're interested!
