This lovely little vase is an exceptional piece of mid-century modern decor. It was designed by famed Finnish designer Takio Wirkkala for Rosenthal in 1970. It rocks and moves around with just a little push on its own, and it’s lovely to hold and play with - even though I still think it’s a very silly-looking thing! I have to appreciate just how great a designer Wirkkala was, because the “Pollo” vase (still can’t get over that nickname!) is a wonderfully animated little piece of pottery.
I’ll probably be putting it on EBay for someone else to enjoy, and I’m so glad I had a chance to play with this one.
