In this video I demonstrate how loud the Vox AC30CH amplifier is while paired with the V212C cabinet. I used the 'Decibel: dB sound level meter' iPhone app. The meter showed volumes from 100 db on the normal channel in various wattages at max gain and max volume with the attenuator engaged. In this video the maximum decibel achieved on the normal channel was 124 at 30 watts without the attenuator turned on. Another important element of this video is when I demonstrate how quiet the amp can get at max gain. This is important because many players play at max gain and need to know exactly how quiet an amp can get but still maintain maximum distortion.
I meant to do this video in on the Top Boost channel but it wasn't until I was editing when I realized that I had actually done it on the normal channel. I've done this test before in the past and know that on the Top Boost channel I usually get around 124-127 decibels, but all in all the results weren't too different, so I decided to keep these. I made sure to demonstrate the different modes provided by the attenuator. The 1/3 watt mode is great for jamming in apartments and shared spaces. The 3 watt mode helps the guitarist get a little louder and is great for practice sessions. The 30 watt mode is great for jamming with a band as well as playing live shows. All in all the attenuator is great since on a normal AC30 you can barely touch the volume knob without cranking the volume.
NOTE: On some channels the minimum volume can actually get slightly quieter, but at these levels they are nearly inaudible. I wanted to demonstrate how quiet the attenuator can output at it's minimum playable volume in normal settings / environments. Also in this video I play pretty heavy handed, so please note that that has an impact on the final decibel reading as well.
