Oh, now I'm "too good at the video game" and "the video game doesn't like me playing it well." Now it has to send out some evil things to stop me.
(spoilers below!!)
There are quite a few things that advance my progression in this part! Don't
Eye of Cthulhu: unlocks the Dryad, also gives me a ton of Crimtane Ore and the Shield of Cthulhu!
Goblin Raid: unlocks the Goblin Tinkerer, who can be found underground, which means I can upgrade my accessories further!
Brain of Cthulhu: unlocks both the Dryad and the Barkeeper, the latter of which allows me to do a special event, and I get the Brain of Confusion!
King Slime: I get the Royal Gel, which means all slime enemies ignore me and deal no damage to me!
