Is the new Risky Critter Bait Junkie a freshwater or saltwater softbait? Why not both?
Filling the light tackle spin space where fly fishing might have had the upper hand in the past, the Risky Critter will be just as handy microbaiting for aggressive in-shore saltwater species like snapper and trevally, as well as targeting trout in lakes and rivers.
The ability to deliver small baits with big movement is key to remaining stealthy in the shallows and present a tasty looking meal to foraging fish without spooking them. Big splashdowns or unnaturally presented lures that don’t match the seafloor hatch will have the fish turning away at the first sign that something isn’t quite right.
The Risky Critter gives you the ability to cover a ton of water as it stays active whether retrieved, on the drop, or sitting head down on the bottom – you’ll be in the zone longer and giving the fish more opportunity to size up the meal and take a bite.
And with a bit of creative trimming you can have a large stonefly or creeper nymph for contact fishing bouldery runs and riffles, which are especially effective early season – further expanding the utility of these little weapons.
Arm yourself with a 8’2” ultralight rod like the packable 4 piece Phantom X and a size 2000-2500 spin reel loaded with 10lb braid and you’re ready to be a salty freshwater menace all over the country, with no shortage of easy access fishing opportunity at your disposal.
Available in 3” length and four colour options.
