Check out Cheaha Mountain, the rooftop of Alabama! Located in the Talladega Mountains in Cleburne County, the highest point in Alabama has an elevation of 2407 feet and is the 35th highest state highpoint in the US. There is an extensive history in this area, from the Mississippian culture, the Spanish with Hernando De Soto, the Muscogee people, and the Great Depression. Cheaha Mountain’s current look has a lot to do with the efforts put in by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. They built many of the structures still in use around Cheaha State Park.
