This is the most important part of your synth!

The filter of any synthesizer (software or hardware) can potentially have the biggest impact on your sound, more than oscillators, envelopes, FX, etc. In this video, I use a (mostly) scientific comparison of 10 different softsynth filters (all plugins in VST format, in FL Studio) with no external FX, no envelopes, same waveform, same automation. You may be shocked at just how different the sound can be, and maybe even inspired to take another look at some of your own synths gathering (virtual?) dust to see what kind of screamy, squelchy tones you can coax out of them!
