CNC owners overthink this part

If you're ready to install a wasteboard for your Onefinity CNC, this might lend some insight. The reality is, you need the wasteboard to prevent your bit from cutting into your table. Every now and then, this wasteboard will need to be replaced depending on how frequently you mark it up.

I kept mine simple by marking the corners for where the router reaches furthest and then drew lines with a straight edge to mark the cutting area. I knew I wanted one piece of T-track in the center so subtracted 3/4" from my overall cutting area width and divided the remaining space by two to give me two rectangular pieces of MDF as my wasteboard. I put a piece of T-track in the front as well thinking this would allow me to hold down two sides of most pieces I work on. I only had two pieces of T-track on hand so I just used what I had. Drywall screws were used to fasten down the MDF wasteboard nice and snug and I did pre-drill countersunk holes to make sure the screws went down pretty far so that I wouldn't hit them when flattening the wasteboard.
