Around the age of 20, N.J. Hüllmandel moved to Paris, where he enjoyed immediate success within aristocratic circles and private salons. This is evidenced by the prominent figures to whom his early works were dedicated, including Marie Antoinette, the Baroness Talleyrand, and the Duke of Guines.
Hüllmandel composed 12 opus numbers, all written for solo keyboard (harpsichord or fortepiano) or with either ad libitum or obligato accompaniment. All of these works were published in Paris between 1773 and 1788, with the exception of his final opus, which was published in London in 1796.
