Cycling Tour of Beijing: Imperial City - Tiananmen - Dashilan - Liulichang

This bike ride tour starts northeast from Imperial City Wall and heads southwest, passing Tiananmen Square, Dashilan Hutong, and Liulichang.

The Tonghui River ends not far from the northeast corner of the Forbidden City. I started my bike ride south from here.
02:44 Hutongs around Songzhu Temple & Zhizhu Temple
These hutongs are home to two former imperial temples. Passing through their renovated gates, I could almost see monks and members of the royal family from the past.
09:11 Beichizi, Donghuamen, Nanchizi
Continuing south along Beichizi Street, I had to detour eastward once I reached Donghuamen, but I still took the alleys (which also house the former imperial temple, Pudu Temple) and arrived at nearly deserted Nanchizi Street. I didn't see much going on there, but I was stopped again at the intersection with Chang'an Avenue, likely due to preparations for the military parade and National Day.
10:30 Zhengyi Road, Qianmen East Street, Tiananmen Square
Then I walked along Zhengyi Road and Qianqian Street, gazing at Tiananmen Square from afar.
12:38 Meishi Street, Yangmeizhuxie Street
Going south along Meishi Street, I arrived at the bustling Yangmeizhuxie Street. Cycling isn't much faster than walking on this artistic street. 47:56 Liulichang, South Xinhua Street
