From stunning overwater villas perched right above the reef to incredible snorkeling just steps from our room, this was one of the most unforgettable places we visited in Belize. Surrounded by crystal-clear turquoise waters and vibrant marine life, Tobacco Caye feels like a remote paradise yet is only a short boat ride from Dangriga, making it the perfect island escape for anyone looking to unwind and explore.

The highlight of staying at Tobacco Caye Paradise is definitely the over-the-water cabins where you can wake up to the sound of the ocean and watch the sunrise from your private deck. Every meal was freshly prepared, featuring delicious Belizean dishes that gave us a taste of the local culture. Between meals we spent our time snorkeling right off the beach, swimming with colorful fish, rays, and even spotting coral formations that are part of the Belize Barrier Reef, the second largest reef system in the world.

Tobacco Caye is small enough to walk around in minutes, but it never feels crowded. Life here moves at a slower pace, and it’s the kind of place where you can completely disconnect while still having access to some of the best marine adventures in Belize. Whether you’re a backpacker, a couple looking for a romantic getaway, or a traveler seeking an off-the-beaten-path destination, this island has something for everyone.
