🚴‍♀️ Laaben Route with Matras-Warte Extension – Vienna Woods MTB Tour

The Laaben Route starts in the scenic Laabental and combines shady forest trails, sunny fields and great views over the rolling Vienna Woods. As a special highlight, this version adds an extra climb to the Matras-Warte on the Schöpfl, the highest mountain of the region.

The ascent follows a forest road and a short section of the Schöpfl MTB trail coming from Schöpflgitter. After about 5.6 km and 315 m of climbing, you reach the top with the Matras-Warte lookout and the Schöpfl mountain hut. On clear days, you can see from the Ötscher mountain all the way to the Danube near Tulln – a truly stunning view.

The descent takes the steeper Heinrich Gith Trail, a short but challenging downhill section over roots and stones – best for experienced riders. Once back in the valley, the route rejoins the original Laaben trail.

With the Schöpfl detour, the tour becomes a sporty and rewarding MTB adventure – full of nature, forest air and breathtaking panoramas.
