Caroline's Walk Of Honor II

My sister is a hero, therefore, as painful as it was, it was time to say goodbye.
As you watch her ‘Walk Of Honor,’ I want to share the education I gained about being an Organ Donor.
A very close friend of my sister, Carrie, has been a nurse in the ICU at Norton’s Hospital for 15 years. During this beautiful event, she shared in comforting us with the insight that in her 15 years of ICU nursing, only 2 (TWO) patients have passed on to be Giftable Donors. TWO! She shared that the rules & checkboxes are so, so strict, that it is oh so rare for a donor to get through the gate to save another human being.
Another important note during this learning experience. When the EMS arrived at my sisters house on the morning of Feb. 10th, 2022 – they soon asked my dear Mom “Do you want us to resuscitate?” To which she bewilderedly pleaded “YES!” Now, reading between the lines, I realize they were ever so gently saying ‘She’s gone.’
Had my mom said “NO, there would have been no donating of Liver, Kidney’s, Corneas, nor her Pancreas for research to save others and give them another chance at life.
My sister Caroline was an AVID dog / animal lover. Ultimately creating her favorite career for herself – “Four Paws,” a pet care service. Her clients and their 4 pawed family members absolutely loved the love and care she gave them, and the personality that came with it.

I want to thank the incredible nurses and entire staff of the Nortons Women's & Childrens ICU department. Your grace & care of which you perform your duties on a daily basis was / is incredible. You're truly angels on earth.

I am forever grateful for the love & support of my wonderful cuzgins, awesome aunts & uncles and family to help carry us through this extremely difficult yet beautiful time. I've never felt such pain & pride at the same time.

To my sis - I'm proud of you! I love you! I will miss you dearly.
