This video features: It's been a while since I've made it downtown for the Holiday / Thanksgiving / Christmas parade. Nice to see that it hasn't changed much over the years. Still tons of people participating, lots and lots of candy thrown to the kids, a handful of marching bands, people young and old singing Christmas carols, etc. This is one of nine video clips that I took as I sorta walked against the flow of the parade, so I could capture as much as I could - all the way to Mr and Mrs Santa Claus and their sleigh at the end.
Turn your settings up as high as possible for the best detail.

As of when I uploaded this, you can look around 360 degree videos by moving your phone around, panning with your finger, clicking and dragging with a mouse if you're on a computer, and of course with VR / XR / AR head mounted displays. Hopefully soon they will figure out how to deliver working 360 video to TVs as well. Oh, and I probably should have mentioned this in the video descriptions from the start - but I'm horrible at checking for comments... so unless I catch it as a new notification on my phone, it'll probably be a long time before I actually sit and go through everything I've uploaded to see if anyone had something to say. :-)

When I started this series of videos the plan basically went: Get a bike, get some exercise, and put that Insta360 X2 camera to use finally. Well, I'm now firmly in phase three. Phase one was actually riding the pedal bike, which got pretty old pretty quick... then I got the cheap TEMU electric bike, which has been absolutely perfect - despite making me look a bit silly... and now, well, I'm still using the e-bike and walking / hiking when required - but I think I'm quickly running out of "new" stuff to record around town. I've got a few more places I know I wanna hit before I'm done, and I'm sure I'll do some more random rides, but this series will probably winding down sooner than later.
Why am I bothering? It's not that I think people will care much about these videos now, when I upload them, but perhaps in ten years, twenty years, or even farther into the future - they could make nice time capsules for locals (or former-locals) to stumble across and feel some nostalgia. Maybe seeing where they once lived, where they used to hang out with friends, etc... And even though less people will probably view these videos due to the 360 degree format, I decided that as an eventual "archive of the past" it's better to provide a full bubble of video versus a normal "flat" video with a restricted view selected by me.
I got this idea after rediscovering some family VHS tapes from a couple decades ago, and getting a smile out of seeing the town as it was back then. And now I'm hoping to leave something like that for people in the future. I've already done rides / recordings around most of the retail, restaurant, business type places, and now most of the neighborhood streets around Lancaster that most locals are familiar with... so it may be that the "area specific" videos will be coming to an end, although I plan to continue on with random rides around town like a dorky, old-man-on-a-bike "live Google Street View" or something. :-)
And yeah, this description is wordy af, but that's for two reasons. 1) I did actually wanna explain things out, but also because 2) I know that YouTube is relying more and more on AI scanning the videos, and when that doesn't work (perhaps like with 360 videos) it relies heavily on what's said here in the description. Thanks for reading, you're probably the only one that made it this far.
