HARRISON TOWNSHIP-- School officials have canceled the homecoming dance at Meadowdale High School following recent bomb threats and fights. The dance had been planned for Saturday, October 24. "Most of the girls are upset because most of them said they spent up to 00 on homecoming," said Meadowdale High School senior student Zachary Crawford. The school cited student safety as their reason for the cancellation, which was announced to parents on a robo-call, then to students at school on Thursday. The Montgomery county sheriff's office was called to the school Tuesday, after a bomb threat and evacuation lead to a large gang fight. The school has also had three other bomb threats during the month of October. Administrators may have had enough, but some parents picking kids up at Meadowdale on Thursday disagreed. "It's not fair, it's just not fair to the kids," said parent Donna Smith, "they keep taking more and more away from the school and it's not right." Students said they school would be refunding tickets purchased for the dance. "I'm very upset because it's my last year and I can't enjoy my homecoming because of all of this," said senior Arionna Moore. Seniors also told FOX45 that even though the dance is canceled, parties may still happen elsewhere. "Some people are having hotel parties, people are still going to do something homecoming night," Moore said. The homecoming game will still be held Friday, October 23 at Welcome Stadium. Investigators are still looking into the source of the bomb threats.
