Classical Gas performed by Glen Campbell

There is a bit of a story that goes along with this one: I am asked quite frequently if dad played and sang a lot around the house growing up, well yes and no, really depended on what was going on at that time. For instance, something that I wish I would have had the forethought to do (at 6 years old) would have been to video tape the times when he would get together with Jimmy Webb, Jimmy would be so excited for dad to hear what he had just come up with, almost to the point of not being able to speak. No words needed, he would just start tickling the ivory, dad would be keeping the beat with his foot and next thing you know as if he magically pulled a rabbit out of hat, dad would have guitar in hand and history would be created right there in front of me. (Should have just whipped out my cell phone and started recording) Another thing I remember quite vividly is Jimmy really got into it while playing the piano. His shoulders would practically go into convulsions as if he were using them to conduct the orchestra. Best way to describe it would be if Joe Crocker played the piano! On the other hand, if he had been spending long hours in the studio, the last thing he wanted to see when he got home was a guitar. However, he did put in a great deal of rehearsal time on this song, Classical Gas as it was my favorite to see him play right there in front of me, practically could not even see his fingers, just a blur up and down the frets. As with all of his solo's the only thing
that sucked about them is when they ended. Like a kid not wanting to get off his father's shoulders, he would no more than finish than I would beckon again dad, play it again!!! Depending upon how good my pouty face was working that day I could get at least two or three out of him. As I got a bit older, I always considered it a special treat whenever dad would play with an orchestra. I finally realized that it was not a serious disorder at all, Jimmy's shoulder spasms, I was a gift!!! Enjoy
