Dimmitt is a small town and has a population of roughly 4,500 people. Dimitt is the county seat of Castro County, which means it is where the county courthouse is located.

Dimmitt is located in the Texas Panhandle, which is the northern most part of the state of Texas. Dimmitt is located 66 miles (106 kilometers) by car from Amarillo, Texas.

Don’t get confused, there is both a town in Texas named Dimitt, and a county with the slightly different spelling called Dimit.

The town of Dimitt is not located within Dimit County, which is much further south. The county seat of Dimit County is Carizzo Springs, Texas.

This little handheld camera is very easy to pack because of its small size. It is not as rugged as the GoPro, but is easy to carry and make stable video. I use the creator combo version which includes an additional battery and a microphone that can be clipped to your shirt for improved audio which I like for filming walking tours.
