Forum Speaker Series: "Salem-Keizer's Plan to Boost Reading and Math Scores" - November 10, 2025

At our Forum Speaker Series luncheon on November 10, 2025, Salem-Keizer Public Schools Superintendent Andrea Castañeda delivered a presentation about the school district's plan to improve reading and math assessment scores.

During the presentation, Superintendent Castañeda shared data and stories demonstrating the district's recent gradual improvements and asked for feedback from the audience while outlining the fundamental steps teachers, staff, and students are taking to continue to make progress.

The event also featured Scott Elementary Principal Nubia Green, who shared her experience in the classroom, working directly with staff, and how the approaches of the plan can work in practice.

With the gathering taking place a day before Veterans Day, we were proud to present the monthly Spirit of Salem Award to Stay Alive Veterans, a local nonprofit dedicated to veteran care and suicide prevention.
